Professional Well Pump Repair & Pressure Tank Services In GTA

Turn on the tap. Nothing comes out.

Or a feeble dribble that had taken the place of a strong dribble. If you have a private well, you know this sensation is quickly transformed from “inconvenient” to “urgent” in around 20 minutes. No water equals no cooking, no shower, no laundry and even no water for your farm animals and those on rural land in Milton, Cambridge and Niagara.

BOS Plumbing and Drains offer well pump repair services in the Greater Toronto Area and Golden Horseshoe. We are NOT a 3 day plumber service, we are a “same day plumber” service. Call us and we’ll be here today.

Why Well Pump Problems Are Different From Regular Plumbing Repairs

You can enter your house and get to your plumbing system. A licensed plumber will be able to see it, touch it and diagnose it in just minutes.

A well pump will be in the ground (100 to 400 feet down) and filled with water, fastened to a drop pipe and connected through a control box that is difficult to access. A failure in one of these components (Capacitor, Pressure switch or Water logged bladder tank) can simulate the symptoms of something far more costly. If the diagnosis is wrong here, it will cost you money. It can cause an already working pump to perform unnecessarily or totally misdiagnose the problem.

This is why it is necessary to have a correct diagnostic process conducted before making contact with any part of the well and pump repair. Above all, at BOS we test before touching. Before we recommend pulling the pump, we check voltage at the control box, we test pressure switch cut-in / cut-out settings, we test the bladder tank pre-charge and we test amperage draw on the motor. The majority of plumbers near me look for businesses that do not do this. We don’t.

What Causes A Well Pump To Fail?

The well pumps are in constant operation and after a while some issues start to erode the system. Some failures occur in dramatic fashion, others take longer time to develop, months or years.

In most cases well pump repair is needed for the following reasons:

  • Old pump age and normal wear
  • Power surges and electrical failures
  • Sediment or sand entering the pump
  • Low water table conditions
  • Pressure switch malfunctions
  • Waterlogged pressure tanks
  • Frozen or damaged water lines
  • Incorrect pump sizing
  • Constant short-cycling
  • Lack of regular well pump maintenance

Identifying these problems early can sometimes mean avoiding a full well water pump replacement, and minimize the chances of having a major plumbing problem.

Signs Your Well Pump Needs Attention

There’s no need to wait until it fails completely. These symptoms indicate that there is something that is not right:

No Water At All: May be due to a tripped breaker, a blown fuse, a dead pressure switch or a motor failure. If the issue is electrical the fix is quick. No matter if the pump has seized, more work is required.

Sputtering Air From Your Faucets: When air is mixed into the water, it’s typically caused by a faulty check valve or check valve blockage due to a drop pipe issue. When not taken care of this worsens.

Weak Pressure All Over House: If all taps and showers are weak simultaneously, it is a problem further upstream from your house. There is virtually always a problem with the pump or pressure tank.

The Pump Is Short Cycling: The pump is not running through the normal cycle but only on and off every few seconds, the air bladder in the pressure tank is likely to be leaking. Pump motors, like many other components, tend to wear out rapidly when subjected to short cycling. Typically, well pressure tank repair or a new motor is not the answer; it’s usually a new well pressure tank replacement, which costs a lot less than a new motor.

Water With Sand Or Grit In It: This indicates a problem with the pump intake screen, or movement of the pump in the well. It also causes increased impeller and pump housing wear.

Bill Increases For No Obvious Reason: A weak pump consumes higher amounts of amperage than a healthy pump. If the electricity bills have spiralled out of control and you cannot account for any reason, get the well system pumped out.

Pressure Switch Doesn’t Close: The pressure switch may not be able to attain the cut-off point, which can be due to the pump not being able to reach sufficient pressure or the pressure switch has failed. In either case, the pump will burn out if it’s running continuously.

Any of these is a worthy reason. It is nearly always more costly not to take action when the well pump has a problem.

What BOS Plumbing And Drains Does For Well Pump Service And Repair

We do well pump repair service including the entire system, not just the pump. In practice, this means that:

Diagnostic Testing First: Before recommending repairs, we perform diagnostic testing first, including motor resistance testing, checking the function of capacitors, checking voltage at the pump terminal, and checking pressure switch calibration. At this point, a diagnosis becomes a guess.

Pressure Switch Repair/Replacement: Pumps are operated by the pressure switch to tell them when to start and stop. Over time these wear out and become off-target. Many complaints of “the pump won’t turn on” and “the pump won’t turn off” can be rectified by a recalibrated or replaced pressure switch.

Well Pressure Tank Repair And Replacement: Waterlogged tank is one of the most frequently occurring issues we encounter, which is dealt with in well pressure tank repair and replacement. If the bladder inside the tank breaks, it will completely fill the tank with water and will lose air cushion. The pump is constantly over-filling the pipe to compensate for the pressure loss. The solution is well pressure tank replacement, which will prevent the pump motor from the type of wear that can be caused by short cycling.

Full Pump Pull And Well Water Pump Replacement: If the motor has failed, the impellers are worn or the pump is just past its “end of life” (8-15 years is typical), then we pull it. We do it all; We will take the rope off the safety rig, disconnect the drop pipe, replace the motor and the housing, then reconnect the drop pipe to the well with a pump that is sized to your well depth and true household needs. Size does matter! If it’s too small, it will constantly work and wear out quickly. If a pump is too large, it causes pressure spikes and/or the pressure tank to fail.

Well Water Pump Repair Without Unnecessary Replacement: If the motor can be repaired then we do. When the problem is with the control box, the wiring or the check valve, we repair that one particular item. We don’t replace a pump as a way to not diagnose it.

Control Box And Electrical Inspection: Control box contains start and run capacitors that start the pump motor. These fail. Do the wiring of the box to the pump. We test all of it.

Well Pump Maintenance Visits: A pressure tank failure and a pressure switch that has drifted during a well pump maintenance call is much cheaper than when the call is made as an emergency. We can provide a maintenance schedule for homeowners who wish to avoid well system problems.

Types Of Well Pumps We Repair

BOS Plumbing and Drains repairs all major residential and commercial well pump systems throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Milton, Niagara and Cambridge.

Submersible Well Pump Repair

Submersible pumps are the most popular type of pump in today’s modern private well systems and are installed deep into the well. These systems can fail because of worn impellers, motor burn out, damaged wiring, or sediment build-up within the pump housing.

Our techs are available for well pump repair, motor diagnostics and complete well pump replacement services, as necessary.

Jet Pump Repair

Older or shallow well systems typically have jet pumps. These pumps commonly experience problems with loss of pressure, air leaks, and failure to prime.

We diagnose and repair:

  • Low pressure problems
  • Air in water lines
  • Pump cycling issues
  • Pressure switch failures
  • Worn pump components

Constant Pressure Well Systems

In the modern constant pressure systems, cutting edge controllers and variable speed pumps are employed to ensure water pressure is kept stable across the property. If these systems fail, special diagnostics are needed.

Our team provides full well pump services and repairs on both old and new well system service.

We Fix Well Pumps For Both Homes And Businesses

From a rural property in Oakville that relies on a well to serve a home, to property outside of Hamilton that’s part of a farm, to a commercial property that operates a well for irrigated grounds in Cambridge, there’s no room for downtime.

Whether you come from a home or business, BOS Plumbing is a residential plumber and commercial plumber company that can accommodate any size well system. We have repaired 1/2 HP residential submersibles and even diagnosed larger 3-phase agricultural pump systems! The diagnostic procedure is the same. Comprehensive testing, honest results and a fix that really works.

Emergency Well Pump Repair – Same Day, No Waiting

A plumbing emergency is a dead well pump. There is never enough water to hand fill a home and in certain situations, such as fire suppression on a farm or for medical equipment, it is unsafe to do so.

BOS is a well system emergency plumber. Knowing that the “we’ll send someone Thursday” policy doesn’t work when there is no running water in the house, we’re always available for same day plumber services.

Call us. Most of the time we can get a licensed technician to you immediately if you live in Mississauga, Oakville Ontario, Hamilton, Milton, Niagara or Cambridge. We have everything you need on hand for common parts on your well water pump, pressure tanks and pressure switches that can help you complete your well water pump repair without having to wait 3 days for parts.

Should You Repair Or Replace Your Well Pump?

Not all well systems have to be replaced. Often a specific repair can restore proper water pressure and system functioning.

Repair is typically the more preferred choice when:

  • The pressure switch has failed
  • The control box needs repair
  • The pressure tank has lost air charge
  • Wiring or capacitor issues are causing problems
  • The pump is still relatively new

Replacement may be recommended when:

  • The motor has seized
  • The pump is heavily corroded
  • The system has repeated failures
  • The pump can no longer maintain pressure
  • The unit is near the end of its lifespan

In BOS Plumbing and Drains we always make sure to test all the plumbing systems first before deciding to well pump replacement or well pressure tank replacement. We don’t want to replace unless it is necessary and ultimately costs the least.

Preventative Well Pump Maintenance

Well pump maintenance can help to avoid sudden loss of water, water pressure problems and costly emergency repair work.

Our maintenance technicians check the entire well system as part of the maintenance visit, which includes:

  • Pressure switch settings
  • Tank air pressure
  • Pump performance
  • Electrical connections
  • Water pressure consistency
  • Signs of sediment or wear

Preventative service helps prolong the lifespan of your pump, lowers energy costs and makes sure that issues are identified and addressed before they become a serious plumbing problem.

If you have a private well system on your rural property in Mississauga, Hamilton, Milton, Niagara and Cambridge, you should consider regular maintenance to prevent thousands of dollars in potential future expenses.

We Fix Well Pumps For Both Homes And Businesses

If you’re a homeowner in Oakville, on a rural well, or a farm system, outside of Hamilton, or a commercial property, with a well on irrigated grounds, your well system cannot afford downtime.

As both a residential plumber and commercial plumber, BOS Plumbing handles well systems of all sizes. We’ve fixed 1/2 HP residential submersibles and diagnosed 3 phase and larger agricultural pump systems. The diagnosis process is identical. Reliable testing, transparent results and a repair that addresses the issue.

    FAQs

Central air conditioner installation on a home with existing ductwork is typically completed in one day. Mini split installation for a single zone takes 3–5 hours. Multi-zone ductless ac installation may require a full day depending on the number of indoor units and complexity of line set routing.

For most central air conditioner installation work involving electrical connections, a permit is required. BOS manages permit requirements as part of our service, keeping you fully code-compliant without the administrative headache.

Home depot ac installation services are typically coordinated through third-party subcontractors. BOS is a direct-service, licensed HVAC and plumbing company with 20+ years of GTA experience and full accountability for every job. You work with us from quote to completion.

Mini splits AC don’t require ductwork and allow room-level temperature control. Central air conditioner installation delivers whole-home cooling through existing ducts from a single system. The right choice depends on your home’s layout, existing infrastructure, and how you want to manage cooling across different spaces.

Sometimes, system components need to be matched properly for efficiency and reliability. Our technicians will assess compatibility between existing indoor components and a new outdoor unit before recommending partial versus full system replacement.

We cover our installations with a workmanship warranty. If an issue develops that’s related to the installation, we return and resolve it at no charge. Call us directly, no third-party warranty service centres, no runaround.
