Go into a busy commercial kitchen, office washroom or restaurant and notice the faucets. They are in use, hot and cold, high pressure dozens of times every day. Sometimes we need more than a wrench and YouTube video to get a job done, particularly when one of them fails or when installing a new space.
For more than 20 years, BOS Plumbing & Drains has been handling commercial sink faucet installation throughout the GTA. We serve restaurant owners in Mississauga, property management teams in Oakville, facility teams in Hamilton, and companies throughout Milton, Brampton, Cambridge and Niagara. The work is done right, to code, with no callbacks.
Many business owners think that replacing a sink faucet is a handyman task. Sometimes it is. However, in a commercial environment particularly in a food service business, medical facility or a multi-unit commercial facility, the chances are dramatically different.
Commercial faucets are connected to supply lines that are under greater pressure than residential supply lines. Faucets in sink setups for commercial kitchens or washrooms in a public environment may be required by the Ontario building code, the health department or your insurance policy. You could jeopardize your building permit, health inspection or coverage by installing an incorrect valve type, fittings that are not certified for your area, or by not installing a backflow preventer.
BOS Plumbing & Drains’ licensed plumber understands what is needed. We obtain permits when necessary for the job, use code compliant materials, and record the installation, so you’ll have a clean record in case a permit inspector or insurer ever comes along.

There are several types of faucets for commercial applications and knowing what they are will help you specify the correct faucet before we come to your site. They can be broken down as follows:
Single Handle Faucets: One lever turns on both the temperature and flow. Widespread use in breakrooms and in lower-traffic washrooms where the use of the product is more about its speed of use.
Two-Handle Faucet: Have two handles for hot and cold water. Used in commercial kitchens with a critical need for good temperature control, and in some food-safe applications.
Motion Detected Faucets / Sensor Faucets: Motion Detected. Increasingly needed in the healthcare environment and in high traffic public toilets. Minimizes cross-contamination and water consumption, especially in high-traffic environments.
Pre-Rinse Spray Units: A pre-rinse spray unit is a unit specifically designed to do a pre-rinse job in a commercial kitchen. These attach to a swing arm over a prep sink, and are used to rinse high volumes. In order to function properly, they need to have specific water pressure requirements and the correct mounting height.
Wrist-Blade / Knee-Operated Faucets: Surgical and clinical faucets that must be operated by wrist-blade or knee-operated faucets: These are used in surgical and clinical settings where it is a hygiene need and not just a preference to not touch the handles with the hands.
Wall-Mounted Faucets: Faucets which are attached to the wall and not the sink deck. Common in the commercial kitchen, and in some industrial washrooms. Needs particular rough-in plumbing as well as proper wall blocking.
When choosing a commercial grade unit, it’s important to be familiar with the components of a faucet, including the cartridge, valve body, aerator, supply lines and shutoff connections. Plastic cartridges and light duty aerators are used in consumer grade faucets. Commercial units have ceramic disc valves, brass bodies and larger flow aerators that are designed to withstand the daily usage in a busy facility.
When you think you don’t know what type of fixture to use, our expert plumbers will help you choose before buying.
Here’s what happens when BOS Plumbing & Drains does a new faucet installation in a commercial property:
Assessment First: Checking your existing water supply line layout, condition of shutoff valve, water pressure at water line, and if any adjustments to the existing drain and trap layout are required for the new fixture.
Old Fixture Removal: We turn off the water supply, remove the old fixture carefully and look at the sink deck or wall surface to see if there are any damage, corrosion or mounting problems that should be repaired prior to installing the new faucet.
Different ageing of supply lines on commercial properties: Supply Line Inspection. High cycle usage will wear the connection points. If it is an old supply line (over 8 to 10 years) we will indicate it on the faucet and replace them at the same time since if the faucet has failed two months later due to an old supply line, it is not worth the money.
Installation and Pressure Test: We install the new fixture and connect supply lines with proper fittings, bring the water up to pressure and then test the faucet before we leave. No drips. No loose connections.
Code Compliance Check: For food service and healthcare properties, in particular, We certify that the installation complies with the requirements of Ontario Plumbing Code and any health department specifications.
Our commercial plumbing company is available to all kinds of commercial businesses throughout the GTA and Southern Ontario:

Yes, and it’s not as uncommon as you think.
An inconvenience isn’t the only negative consequence of a commercial kitchen faucet that doesn’t stop running. Not only is it a health inspection risk, it’s also a water damage risk and may necessitate a closure. Like a washroom faucet that’s left on all the time in an office building or retail location.
BOS Plumbing & Drains offers emergency services and plumbing solutions to all commercial faucet leakages in the GTA. We provide plumbing service and after hours plumbing response and same day plumbing service if you’re experiencing an emergency and it’s causing your business to be closed.
Our crews provide service to the GTA including Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Brampton, Milton, Cambridge, Niagara and more. Looking for a local emergency plumber in your area that works on commercial properties? We are the ones for you!
When looking for a local plumber near me or recommend plumbers near me for a commercial project you desire a bit more than the nearest guy that has a van. In a regulated commercial setting, the faucet install can have a significant impact, and you want a commercial plumbing company that has an understanding of the consequences.
20+ Years of Commercial Experience: We know commercial grade systems, what they require and how to keep them running that’s why we’re the plumbing company GTA businesses call.
Licensed Plumbers on Every Job: No apprentice or handyman with a plumbing kit is sent to do the job, our techs are all licensed plumbers. Registered, covered and accountable.
Transparent Pricing, Scope prior to work: We are letting you know the scope and price upfront before any work is done. The invoice does not have any surprises.
Plumbers Nearby When You Need Them: We have teams located all over the GTA and Southern Ontario! Looking for plumber in Mississauga services? Done. Plumbers in Oakville? Covered. Emergency Plumber in Hamilton? That’s us too. Not from a far away depot, we’re local and this is reflected in our response time.
Full Plumbing and Services Capability: Faucet installation is one of the things that we do. When we’re there and we see a problem with the supply line or a valve that needs replacing, we’re there to take care of it, you don’t have to call 3 different contractors for one plumbing problem.
The most obvious indicators: dripping that doesn’t stop after adjusting the cartridge, body/based corrosion, loosened or broken handle, reduced flow which cannot be corrected with aerator cleaning, or a touchless sensor that is operating in an erratic fashion. A faucet that is unable to deliver hot water at the correct temperature in a commercial kitchen is another hot water management issue that is a food safety concern and needs to be addressed immediately.
Yes. We will install a commercial grade fixture if you have already bought it. We do recommend that you make sure the fixture is NSF/ANSI 61 certified and that it fits your supply line setup prior to buying. If you are looking for a second opinion, our professional plumber crew is at your service and will be glad to give you a second opinion prior to making a purchase.
A residential plumber is most likely to be dealing with the average home setups, those that consist of low-pressure supply lines, normal 3-hole deck mount setups and basic shutoff valves. Installations for commercial applications may include wall-mount rough-in, high pressure supply systems, pre-rinse arm mounting, backflow prevention, and health code compliance. It’s a different hardware, it’s different code requirements and it’s a higher stakes. BOS Plumbing & Drains is a commercial plumbing company; this isn’t an occasional job we do.
Yes. Business hours don’t apply when it comes to plumbing emergencies in commercial facilities.
