We know how difficult it can be to heat a Canadian home, as well as the issues surrounding varying temperatures, older ducting systems and sky-high electricity bills. We want to make your property warm and get rid of high energy bills, and we’re doing it with energy-efficient heating systems.
One of the most crucial systems within your home is your furnace. If the installation is not done properly, energy costs can be high, airflow can be problematic, the machine may be noisy and repairs may be costly.
This is why BOS Plumbing & Drains specialize in furnace installation services based on precision tailored specifically for Canadian properties.

Other times, homeowners already realize that they need a new unit. Other times, they’re not yet sure if they should be replaced or repaired. From 20+ years of furnace and installation experience throughout the GTA, this is the advice we give people:
A furnace that’s 18-20 years or older should be nearing the end of its useful life. Heating equipment is not affected by Ontario winters, but is not as efficient year after year. The cost of a 15-year-old furnace with 70% AFUE efficiency is costing you money every month versus a new high efficiency furnace installation with either a 96% AFUE or a 98% AFUE.
Repairs typically move to replacement when two big ones occur in the three-year span. Add them up. When repair costs are nearing 50% of the cost of a new unit, and you will be starting a warranty replacement it is usually the better choice.
If the heat exchanger is cracked, it’s a sure sign: replace. Cracks in the heat exchanger are not repairable and if the furnace is used, then carbon monoxide will be present in your home.
If the heat is not evenly distributed around the house, the unit is constantly cycling on and off, or the house is just too cold on a cold January night, it could be an undersized unit, a degraded unit or both. A new furnace and installation with proper load calculation solves all three.
We don’t arrive with an already determined unit that you need. The first step is to accurately determine the heat load of your home.
A normal furnace blows-off combustion gases up through a metal flue in the roof. A high efficiency furnace will use 96% or more AFUE, which means that combustion gases are cooled so much that they can be vented through PVC pipe on a side wall. The less heat that escapes through the roof, the more heat that will be in the home for each cubic foot of gas.
A 96% AFUE furnace can save a homeowner from a 80% furnace several hundred dollars a year on natural gas bills, depending upon the size of the home, according to the climate in Ontario. A significant number of years, 15-20 years.
Government rebates are also available with the high efficiency furnace installation. Enbridge Gas has rebates available for high efficiency furnaces under Home Efficiency Rebate Plus. Additional incentives have also been offered under the Canada Greener Homes Grant for heat pump ready and/or dual fuel systems. Eligibility and amounts will vary, we review program eligibility when quoting and assist you in the application process.
Installing the system is a bit more complex than a standard-efficiency swap and the condensate drain line, PVC venting and pressure switches must be installed properly. Our licensed gas furnace installers have installed hundreds of high efficiency furnaces in the GTA and surrounding area.
A new furnace is the right time to install a whole house humidifier. Winters are dry in Ontario. This is exacerbated with forced air heating. Dry indoor air results in dry skin, static electricity, cracking wood furniture and colder than it feels cold air.
A house humidifier furnace integration is either a bypass or a powered drum style humidifier placed directly on the furnace plenum that puts controlled moisture into all rooms of the house using the existing ductwork. The humidistat is programmed to provide the desired humidity and the system takes care of the remainder.
We install and connect the humidifier at the time of the furnace installation and you don’t need to schedule a second appointment. All the water supply, drain line and electrical are covered.
BOS can be used in residential and commercial buildings. When a Residential Plumber and HVAC technician work together, we are able to deal with the entire mechanical aspect of a Home: Furnace, Plumbing, Drains, Water Heater and AC. One call, one company, one warranty!
Our commercial plumber and HVAC system installation crews serve multi-unit residential buildings, retail, offices buildings and light industrial. We’ve replaced rooftop units, installed make-up air units, and installed larger gas units in the GTA for years.
Permit, equipment sizing and venting requirements are different for HVAC install on commercial properties than on residential properties. We understand the distinction and take care of the entire process.
To avoid any possible confusion over what’s being delivered:
Proper Sizing: Calculation of the heat load. Consultation about selecting the appropriate equipment, all of the options explained. Allow the use and processing of personal applications. Disposal and removal of old furnaces. This is a complete installation with gas, electrical and venting connections. Testing of gas lines for pressure. Analysis and commissioning for combustion. To maintain warranty, all manufacturer start up requirements are completed. Walk-through demonstration of the system with the homeowner/property manager after installation. Complete record of all system performance data.
In addition, if you are installing a house humidifier furnace unit at the same time, you will need to install a humidistat, connect water to it and connect a drain line.
In rare cases a furnace fails to such an extent that it can only be repaired, and a two-week wait for an installation date is not possible. BOS stocks a wide variety of common furnace models and will be able to convert an HVAC emergency repair to installation in 24 to 48 hours. We prioritise households with older adults, young children or those medically at risk of cold.
Give us a call and tell us about the situation. If possible to solve it before it can be replaced, we will say so. When it’s time to replace and it must be done quick, we’ll do it!

Central air conditioner installation on a home with existing ductwork is typically completed in one day. Mini split installation for a single zone takes 3–5 hours. Multi-zone ductless ac installation may require a full day depending on the number of indoor units and complexity of line set routing.
For most central air conditioner installation work involving electrical connections, a permit is required. BOS manages permit requirements as part of our service, keeping you fully code-compliant without the administrative headache.
Home depot ac installation services are typically coordinated through third-party subcontractors. BOS is a direct-service, licensed HVAC and plumbing company with 20+ years of GTA experience and full accountability for every job. You work with us from quote to completion.
Mini splits AC don’t require ductwork and allow room-level temperature control. Central air conditioner installation delivers whole-home cooling through existing ducts from a single system. The right choice depends on your home’s layout, existing infrastructure, and how you want to manage cooling across different spaces.
Sometimes, system components need to be matched properly for efficiency and reliability. Our technicians will assess compatibility between existing indoor components and a new outdoor unit before recommending partial versus full system replacement.
We cover our installations with a workmanship warranty. If an issue develops that’s related to the installation, we return and resolve it at no charge. Call us directly, no third-party warranty service centres, no runaround.
