Shower Repair Specialists | Fast & Affordable Shower Plumbing Repairs GTA

One of those things that people are living with for too long is a leaking shower. It begins as a trickle from the shower faucet. Grout begins to soften thereafter. After that, there’s the water that’s behind the wall. When it’s seen, it will cost more to repair than at week one.

BOS Plumbing and Drains has been servicing the GTA for shower repair for over 20 years. We repair broken components, determine the cause of the problem and let you know if it requires replacing in time before it breaks. Our shower plumbers have licenses, stocked trucks and are not problem makers to pad an invoice.

When you have problems with your shower or water heater, here’s what we do.

Shower Repairs We Handle Every Day

1. Leaking Shower And Shower Faucet Repair

If a water leak is dripping at a constant rate, a showerhead can waste 3,000 litres (or 3 cubic metres) of water a year. A shower faucet leaking at the valve wastes more, and can cause water to track behind the wall where you can’t see it.

This is typically due to a worn-out cartridge, a ruptured O-ring or a rusted valve seat. The most common repair to a shower faucet is to pull out the cartridge, look at the valve body and replace the broken part. We will notify you before we begin work, if we can’t get the valve body to work again, it’s cracked or has been corroded.

However, if the shower valve has not been replaced on an older home in the GTA in 20 years, then replacing a full shower faucet may be more reliable. When a valve’s crags and grime is worn away, the cartridge change is a likely possibility.

2. Shower Handle Replacement And Shower Tap Repair

The shower handle replacement seems easy. Sometimes it is. However, under the handles of single-handle pressure-balance valves and thermostatic valves are model-specific cartridges, and a failure to reinstall the correct part or an incorrect part will result in another problem.

For a loose, seized or cracked shower tap repair, you will need to know the brand and model of the valve in order to get the parts. Our techs have common cartridges and come with the hardware to your truck for the major brands. If it is an old or an unusual valve we obtain the part and return.

3. Fix Shower Diverter

If water is spilling from the tub spout and shower head at the same time or if the diverter doesn’t stay closed and water leaks down to the tub while you’re taking a shower, the diverter needs maintenance.

To fix shower diverter issues, we first confirm whether it’s a three-way diverter valve, a tub spout diverter, or a diverter within a multi-function shower system. There are different ways of repairing each type. If the tub spout diverter has failed, it’s a relatively quick and easy repair. One that is built into the rough-in valve is a three way valve diverter, which is more complicated.

Correct diagnosis and quote repair.

4. Shower Head Replacement

Sometimes, a showerhead replacement is a simple exchange. If the arm attached to the wall is corroded, is not threaded properly, or has a leak at the head-on-the-wall connection, however, fixing the head alone won’t cure the leak.

Full replacement is done properly, clean the threads, ensure correct arm attachment, use the correct seal and ensure no drip at the wall. We test to ensure that the water pressure and flow rate will work with your upgrade to a rain head or multi-function unit with various water pressure needs.

5. Shower Grout Repair

Shower grout repair is where a lot of hidden water damage starts. Porous grout deteriorates with time and is a problem in a shower that is used every day. The water will penetrate the crack or erosion and enter beneath the tile. It absorbs into the backer board. The wall framing can follow thereafter.

We will re-grout shower surrounds and plug gaps and cracks. If the camera or probing has identified that there is water in the wall cavity behind the tiles, we will let you know what our findings were. A wet wall will not be long lasting if it is regrouted.

6. Shower Door Repair And Shower Door Replacement

A shower door repair may involve some of the following: readjusting the shower door hinges, replacing a broken sweep or a broken shower door latch. However, some doors made of glass without any frame or with a loose pivot (or sliding doors with corroded track) are better to be replaced than adjusted over and over.

Replacing shower doors may be necessary if the frame is corroding or the louvered glass is etched beyond the ability to clean or the door style does not close properly with all adjustments. Both repair and replacement are covered and we’ll simply let you know which is the best option for you.

7. Shower Fixture Repair

Shower fixture repair encompasses the whole fixture other than the valve and head: body sprays, hand spray connections, volume controls and multi function shower diverters. These tend to be found in refurbished bathrooms or in luxury bathrooms, and have potential points for failure.

If your shower system has more than one outlet and one isn’t operating well, you have to take the diverters and their functions apart from the valve body for diagnosis. This is done regularly by our techs on thermostatic and digital shower systems throughout Oakville, Mississauga and the higher renovation GTA.

When Shower Problems Become Plumbing Emergencies

The majority of shower repair service calls are not emergencies. But some are.

If the shower valve is stuck open and cannot be turned off, it needs to be closed first by shutting off the water supply to the shower or the house and then by calling in a plumber ASAP. When a pressure drop is felt in the shower, and water shows on the ceiling below, it is most likely that the shower supply line has ruptured in the wall.

If plumbing emergencies are related to a shower system, BOS boasts a full GTA and surrounding plumbing 24 hour service. I need a plumber as early as Monday morning, but want it done by us 24 hours a day. Call us immediately if you require a local emergency plumber in the area for a shower that is spitting water where it does not belong!

The rate’s the same for after hours plumbing as for regular plumbing calls, when there’s a problem with a shower. No triple billing for the Saturday night bill.

Shower Repair For All Property Types

Residential Shower Repair

In our line of work with residential plumbing, one of our most frequent requests is for shower repairs in the GTA. The failures are dependent on the property’s age and type.

Older homes built prior to 1990 may have rough-in valves that have been in place for 30+ years, such as Moen, Price Pfister, or Delta. Cartridges can still be obtained for these valves, but it is important to consider the condition of the valve body. We test before replacing.

In some newer Milton and Mississauga developments, shower systems are as new as 8-10 years, but were often fitted with the more cheaply produced shower systems and shower valves that degrade faster than the surrounding tile. Shower faucet repair or replacing shower faucet cartridges are a regular occurrence on these.

24/7 Same Day Shower Repair

Most of the time, when customers call for a shower repair service in our service area, we can provide same day plumber service. Our techs have all of the parts to replace a leaking shower head, shower handle replacement, or a shower tap repair. When you call we may be able to do the job on the same day if the parts are on the truck.

Availability will be confirmed upon phone call. We don’t guarantee the same day and then put you on a 3 day wait.

Shower Repair Across the GTA and Surrounding Areas

After working in this area for over 20 years, our shower plumbers are familiar with the building stock across this area.

The plumbing used for shower systems varies throughout the city of Mississauga, from the 1970’s bungalows with original tub/shower valves in the original system, to newer townhomes with multi-function thermostatic systems. Both are in need of good hands.

Plumbers in Oakville commonly deal with top-notch shower systems in the renovation market that is situated in the South of Oakville. Digital controls, body spray systems, and thermostatic valves. If one part of a complex shower system breaks, it’s important to get it right the first time, saving time and money.

Plumbers in Hamilton deal with older homes where shower grout repair and original shower valve replacement is more common than in newer homes, and water damage behind tiled shower surrounds is more likely than in newer homes.

Plumbers in Milton are able to work on new construction houses that are outfitted with builder-provided plumbing systems or houses in the original town core, where plumbing work has not been done in years.

We’re here to help plumbers in Cambridge and Waterloo Region with shower repairs around the house.

BOS has shower repair calls every day throughout the entire GTA (Toronto, Brampton, Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough).
