Best Bathroom Faucet Installation Near You | Trusted GTA Plumbers

A dripping faucet at the time of 2 a.m. A shower or bathtub faucet that refused to turn on.A bathroom faucet that had ceased turning. A shower handle which has been “almost fixed” for three months. If you recognize what that is, then you’ve come to the right place.

For more than 20 years, BOS Plumbing and Drains has been specializing in bathroom faucet installation in the Greater Toronto Area. We serve Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Brampton, Milton, Niagara and Cambridge. We do it all by licensed plumbers who show up on time, price you appropriately, and complete the job the first time.

What Does Professional Bathroom Faucet Installation Actually Include?

Many homeowners think that replacing a faucet is a weekend job for them. Sometimes it is. But the majority of calls we receive begin with the statement, “I did it myself, and now water is spraying everywhere.

Let’s take a look at the scope of our bath faucet installation service step-by-step:

  • Shutting off water supply lines safely without damaging valves
  • Removing the old faucet, supply lines, and drain assembly
  • Inspecting the sink deck or countertop for water damage or deterioration before installing anything new
  • Installing your new faucet (or one we supply) with proper torque on all mounting hardware
  • Connecting and testing supply lines for pressure and leaks
  • Checking drain alignment and function
  • Cleaning up completely before we leave

Any other corroded valves, slow drain or supply lines out of service are also noted under the sink. No surprise charges. Only information to assist you in making a decision.

Replacing a Bathroom Faucet vs. Installing One From Scratch: What’s the Difference?

It’s frequently quicker to replace a bathroom faucet that is already in the sink. Water lines have already been installed. Drain has been installed. We play once, change cables, play again, and then done!

A brand new bathroom faucet installation in a renovation or new build will require more. We are laying supply lines, cutting holes in the deck (if necessary) and setting up from scratch. It is something that we do every day, but with different time frames.

Nevertheless, the labour is accurate in any case. An incorrect faucet installation causes the water to drip behind the wall or under the cabinet and this water damage can be expensive to fix, costing thousands of dollars. It’s easier, and more cost effective, to get it done right the first time.

Shower Faucet Installation and Replacing Shower Handles in the GTA

The bathroom sinks are just one thing. Showers are another.

Many times, shower faucet installation and replacing shower valves involves working in the wall cavity. The complexity of the job depends on the type of shower system you have: cartridge valves, pressure-balance valves or thermostatic valves.

Some of the most frequently occurring phone calls we receive about showers:

  • Replacing a shower faucet that no longer controls temperature properly
  • Installing a new shower valve when renovating a bathroom
  • Replacing a shower handle that’s seized, stripped, or broken
  • New shower faucet installation in a tiled surround (without cracking tile, which matters a lot)
  • Single-handle, double-handle, and digital shower systems

If someone doesn’t know the pressure-balance valve requirements in Ontario, a new shower faucet installation can result in either scolding or freezing showers. Not ideal. Our plumbers are familiar with Ontario Building Code requirements relating to thermostatic protection and will install it as per these requirements.

How Long Does It Take to Change a Bathroom Faucet?

The whole process of bathroom faucet replacing can amount to 1 to 2 hours. This involves disconnection, site inspection, replacement of the old faucet, new faucet connection and testing.

More involved jobs such as installing a new shower valve inside a wall can take 3 to 5 hours depending on access and the state of the existing plumbing.

We’ll provide you with a realistic time estimate prior to beginning. No ‘depends’ non-answer.

Bathroom Faucet Installation Cost

The first question a homeowner is likely to have is, “How much will it cost to install a bathroom faucet? It will depend on a variety of elements, such as the sort of faucet to be installed, the condition of the current plumbing and the necessity of further repair work.

When replacing a bathroom faucet, there is no need to create a lot of work cutting into the walls or floors, or to alter the plumbing lines, and this is generally also easier to accomplish than a brand new installation. Additional issues can have an impact on pricing such as changing shut-off valves, upgrading supply lines, repairing water damage under the sink, or adding specialty features like wall-mounted faucets or thermostatic shower valves.

Factors that affect faucet installation cost:

  • Faucet type
  • Existing plumbing condition
  • Shut-off valve replacement
  • Sink modifications
  • Shower valve accessibility
  • Brand and fixture selection

Signs You Need to Replace Your Bathroom Faucet (Not Just Repair It)

In some cases, it is a good idea to repair a faucet. These are problems that can be addressed: A worn washer, loose packing nut, and a cracked cartridge. However, at other times, replacing is a good strategy over repairing.

Watch for these:

Double faucet fixes: If the faucet needs to be fixed twice then the internal mechanism may have corroded or is worn out and beyond repair.

Water staining or rust around the base: This is typically a sign of water leakage occurring for some time between the faucet and the surface of the sink. Damage underneath such may be more extensive than what you can see.

The low water pressure at that faucet only: May be caused by a clogged aerator (easy fix) or the failure of the cartridge (replacement time).

The age of a faucet is a significant consideration as faucets over 15 – 20 years of age are generally at the end of their useful life, especially in hard water areas such as Mississauga or Hamilton.

We will be honest with you and let you know if a repair or a new bath faucet installation is more cost effective for you.

What Types of Faucets Can We Install?

We install bathroom taps and shower faucets from all major brands Moen, Delta, Kohler, Pfister, American Standard, and more. A faucet may be available from the customer or a new faucet will be provided.

Faucets we frequently install:

  • Single-hole faucets (one lever controls hot and cold)
  • Centre-set faucets (3-hole, 4-inch spread most common in Canadian homes)
  • Widespread faucets (3-hole, 6 to 16-inch spread)
  • Wall-mounted bathroom faucets
  • Vessel sink faucets
  • Tub fillers and deck-mounted tub faucets
  • Pressure-balance shower valves
  • Thermostatic shower systems

If you don’t know which type of faucet(s) will work in your sink or shower, ask questions. We will measure and check compatibility, and advise you precisely what is going to work before ordering anything.

We’re Your Local Emergency Plumber Across the GTA

For just these situations, BOS Plumbing and Drains can provide plumber services throughout the GTA, 24 hours a day. If your plumbing has a leak, valve has broken or you’re in need of an emergency plumbing repair at 3 a.m. in Oakville, or perhaps a same day plumbing in Brampton, due to a valve failing and you need running water by the time your alarm rings for the next morning, we’re here.

We’re not a national dispatch plumber, we’re a local emergency plumber. A BOS employee who is familiar with the water system in your area, has been treating houses in Hamilton for years and is able to be at your door without sitting on a “booking queue” in the GTA.

The pricing and transparency of after hours plumbing calls are the same as day calls. We inform you of the rate prior to starting. No undue surcharge on bills for emergency services.
