Complete Sewer Line Installation Services Across Toronto And The GTA

The sewer line is an out-of-sight job, it is the least glamorous of plumbing in your home. Until it doesn’t.

Unless the root intrusion, pipe collapse, aging or whatever has failed, it is an absolute necessity to install sewer lines. Most homeowners do not realize who they should call to fix it.

BOS Plumbing & Drains have been working within the GTA for more than 20 years laying sewer and handling the entire home plumbing system for residents. Serving the communities of Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Milton, Brampton, Niagara, Cambridge and all points in between. Our crew has installed hundreds of new sewer lines ranging from simple replacement service, to complicated projects in finished driveways and established landscaping.

If you are looking for sewer line installation services near me, then this is the place you came to.

What Actually Happens During A New Sewer Line Installation?

This is something that most homeowners haven’t worked with firsthand. Here are the details of a good sewer line installation in its entirety.

We use a camera directly into your existing sewer line to perform a sewer drain inspection. This lets us know what we’re working with – pipe type (clay, cast iron, ABS, PVC), collapse points, root intrusion areas, and water accumulation areas in the “bellied” sections. We don’t guess. We look.

From there, we’ll determine if a full sewer replacement is necessary, a targeted area replacement or if it is best to proceed with trenchless sewer line installation. Pipe lining and pipe bursting are trenchless techniques that can be used to install a new sewer liner without having to excavate your yard, driveway or landscaping. That’s a big difference in disruption and expense for many residents of the GTA.

When open excavation is necessary, we carefully remove damaged pipe, thoroughly clean the excavation site, and install a new pipe at the proper slope. Properly laying sewer line requires a grade of approximately 1/4 inch per foot of horizontal distance. If it is set too low, the waste sinks to the bottom. If too steep, water flows off without solids. Both cause blockages. We have worked with this enough to not have to guess as to grade.

Following the installation of the new line, we back fill in compacted layers and restore any disturbed surface as agreed, then undertake a camera inspection post installation to ensure everything is seated and flowing properly.

Trenchless Sewer Line Installation Is It Right for Your Property?

Trenchless sewer line installation has changed a lot in the last decade. The methods have become more reliable and the material, known as cured-in-place pipe lining or CIPP, is guaranteed to last 50+ years when done properly.

So when is this logical?

A sewer liner installation can be performed if the existing pipe is still mostly in good shape but is cracked, root-infiltrated or has begun to corrode. A felt liner is impregnated with epoxy and expanded to snugly fit against your pipe walls and then cured into position. This forms a sort of “pipe in pipe”.

When a pipe is collapsed, or has a large belly, pipe bursting may be the better choice. A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, breaking the old pipe outwards while at the same time pulling a new HDPE pipe behind it. Completely replacing, limited digging.

Not all jobs can be done using trenchless techniques. When access points are in bad condition, or pipe routing is unusual, open excavation might be more effective. We’re not going to sugarcoat it, we’ll tell you which one is best for you and why.

How Do You Know Your Sewer Line Needs Replacing?

Some symptoms are apparent. Some aren’t.

The only way to be sure of what’s going on underground is to do sewer drain inspection. However, these are the red flags to look out for that should make you call:

  • Slow drains throughout the house (not just one fixture multiple)
  • Sewage smell in your yard or basement with no visible source
  • Patches of unusually green or soggy grass directly over your sewer line
  • Recurring drain backups even after professional cleaning
  • Gurgling sounds in toilets when you run water elsewhere in the home
  • A home over 40 years old with original clay or cast iron sewer piping

Homes constructed in the GTA prior to the 1980s are especially susceptible. At the time, clay tile pipe was the norm. It is brittle, decades of years later joints have opened up, and tree roots find it irresistible. Whoever has never got a sewer drain inspection for their home, an inspection is just enough to book for that home.

Residential and Commercial Plumbing We Handle Both

BOS Plumbing & Drains isn’t a residential-only operation. We service commercial plumbing in all multi-unit residential buildings, small commercial and mixed use developments throughout the GTA.

There’s another level of complexity when it comes to commercial sewer line installation: greater volume, more rigid municipal requirements, the involvement of property managers and tenants, and often, increased time constraints. All of this is something we’ve seen before.

We deal with jobs the same way, whether you are the homeowner with a failing sewer in your front yard in Oakville or the property manager who is handling a new sewer installation as part of a renovation project in Mississauga, the job is done in a methodical way with a scope of work agreed upon in advance.

The inspection is done prior to the quote. Our sewer drain inspection process is one where we give you a price for something that’s in the ground and not a “ball park estimate” based on what you call out over the phone.

Where possible, we are also available for trenchless. We will let you know if we can save your landscaping and driveway with a sewer liner installation. If we cannot, we’ll let you know, and tell you why in detail.

When things go haywire, we’re there! Sewer backups are not on shift hours. When a drain backup becomes an emergency, you can count on our 24 hour plumber service. Emergency service calls are serviced throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Brampton, Milton, Niagara, Cambridge and throughout the GTA.

We are properly licensed. All of our sewer line contractors are licensed and insured. Paperwork is required for municipal permits, which varies from area to area in the GTA we are able to do.

What Does Sewer Line Installation Cost in the GTA?

Honestly? So much it varies that any number we tell you before it was inspected would be misleading.

The savings in labour that can be realized during trenchless sewer liner installation on a standard residential line generally outweigh the cost of the liner. The replacement cost of a full open-cut over a longer period of time will be greater, and this will vary based on the depth, access difficulties, pipe material and the presence or absence of permit fees in your municipality.

What we can’t: tell you, we do it in writing, before we do it. No surprises after the job has started! And because we’ve been doing new sewer line installation across the GTA for 20+ years, our crews work efficiently which keeps labour hours honest.

Make a call or book online to get an evaluation. The real part of the sewer drain inspection is in the pricing.

    FAQ'S

In some cases, you CAN. A hair dryer or heat lamp will work if the frozen section is visible, available and you’re working on a metal pipe. Begin from the faucet end and move towards the freeze. Avoid using an open flame. If the pipe is hidden behind a wall, or you can’t find the pipe, call a frozen pipe service professional. When thawing from a crack that was already created by DIY, it is likely that the crack will fully open up when the ice melts and relieves the pressure.

Most plumbers for burst pipe calls take 1 to 3 hours on-site, depending on access and the extent of the damage. Wall opens, multi-floor runs, or older cast iron systems take longer.

Yes, typically, if it was unexpected and accidental bursting. Most Ontario policies include coverage for damage to the structure and contents from a burst water pipe, but not the cost of the water pipe repair work. BOS provides documentation of repair and it will be useful for you! Review your insurance: some policies exclude coverage for empty homes, or leaking pipes that were subject to ongoing problems in the past.

Plumbing emergency response services are available throughout the entire GTA, Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Milton, Brampton, Cambridge and even Niagara. After hours plumbing lines – our after hours plumbing line isn’t an answering machine, it’s a connection to a licensed plumber who can be on call for pipe repair calls after hours.
