There’s a version of urinal installation that occurs quickly, seems okay for six months, and then leaks behind the wall. There’s another version and for over 20 years BOS Plumbing and Drains has been providing it: the rough-in is measured twice, the urinal drain install connects seamlessly to your existing plumbing system, and the fixture works the way it should the first day.
From restaurant fitting in a new restroom in Mississauga to property fitting in a multi-stall washroom in Hamilton and homeowner fitting a wall urinal in a basement or garage in Oakville, and across the Greater Toronto Area, Brampton, Milton, Niagara, Cambridge and more, we always employ the same level of licensed workmanship.
Many people think plumbing urinal installation is the same as toilet installation – unbolt old toilet, bolt in new toilet, connect to the new toilet supply. In reality, it is a more complex discipline and details are extremely significant.
The process of urinal assembly starts even before the fixture reaches the workplace. To install properly requires:
Precise Rough In Measurement: All urinal bowl installations rely on the correct rough in measurement before a single pipe is touched. Before ordering fixtures and/or opening any walls, the following must be confirmed: distance from finish wall to drain centreline, height of water supply outlet, and the structural capacity of the wall (especially wall urinal installation, where the fixture is carrier mounted and cantilevered off of the framing structure). This is where errors cause re-work and since the wall-hung urinals have the carrier hardware inside the wall cavity, it costs a lot to correct errors after the fact.
Drain Slope and Trap Configuration: A correct slope to the urinal drain to the stack or branch drain as specified in the Ontario’s plumbing code, which is usually ¼ inch per foot. If a slope isn’t maintained correctly there will be poor drainage, water will sit in the trap and eventually the unpleasant smell that simply cannot be removed. All work with slope and venting is checked by our licensed plumbers throughout.
Flush Valve Selection and Water Pressure Compatibility: There is a difference in the urinal assembly process depending on the specification whether it is a manual flush valve, flush valve with sensor or a waterless urinal cartridge system. The connection method varies in the process of urinal assembly when the specification requires the use of a manual flush valve, flush valve with sensor or a waterless urinal cartridge system. Sensor controlled valves must be electrically connected to the wall cavity, while waterless models must be installed with a special fitting that accepts the cartridge and has access for periodic maintenance. We install flush valves to the manufacturer’s specification and assist our client in selecting the appropriate flush valve for the water pressure range and the usage load in Mississauga, Oakville and Hamilton.
Wall Carrier and Blocking Requirements: For wall hangers, Wall Carrier and Blocking Requirements include a concealed carrier that is bolted to structural framing in both commercial and residential plumbing applications. In renovations, particularly in older buildings in the GTA, this is frequently a requirement prior to the carrier installation, including opening the wall to inspect the condition of existing wood studs, sistering blocking in and patching the wall before the installation of the carrier. This work is part and parcel of our scope to ensure that clients are not taken aback.
Expert solutions for all your residential & commercial plumbing needs
We serve the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions with local expertise
You don’t have to be in the business world to discuss urinal installation. BOS works with a variety of clients throughout the GTA and Southern Ontario that many don’t realise:
Restaurants, Bars, and Hospitality Venues: Commercial plumbing fixtures in high-traffic men’s restrooms require volume high-flow flush valves, high-strength vitreous china, and seamless integration with bathroom plumbing. From rough-in to finish, we will complete full-scope builds for new openings and retrofits in all of Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Cambridge and the Niagara region.
Property managers who manage shared washroom facilities such as office buildings and multi-tenanted commercial properties have found BOS to be a dependable and easy-to-install option when it comes to plumbing and urinal installation because we know how to operate the space; keeping it in good working order, coordinating with others’ schedules, and minimizing downtime. We work on the weekend and after hours when building access is needed.
Gyms, Fitness Centres, Recreation Facilities: Frequently used areas that require high levels of hygiene. A sensor-flush urinal assembly is both a “no touch” and water-saving benefit in facilities. These systems are spec’d and installed throughout our entire GTA service area.
ResidentialBasement Bars, Garages and Man Caves: The residential urinal installation market has been steadily expanding thanks to the expansion of finished basements, attached garages and home bars. When in the home, a properly installed residential urinal will help to significantly decrease clogged toilet incidents as well as when installed in a garage or workshop, it eliminates the need to go back into the home all together when it’s used in a high use environment. It is not uncommon for basement or garage plumbing systems to already be roughed-in, and the extra expense of installing a urinal may not be as costly as homeowners think.
Renovation and Replacement Projects: When a urinal bowl is cracked, flush valve is not working or the bowl’s carrier has rusted or the unit is an old model that fails to meet current water efficiency standards, replacement can often be less costly than continued renovations. We evaluate if the plumbing repair is really cost-effective or if the plumbing replacement will be more effective and we will tell you the truth!
A search online will yield a number of plumbers near me. What’s even more rare is a plumbing company that can boast 20+ years of installation experience, be fully licensed in the Ontario College of Trades, and has a real desire to communicate with you and tell you what they will do and why without “talking down” to you or over-reaching the scope.
BOS Plumbing and Drains is a service that is unique in every urinal installation job:
Assessment is done to provide a quote. We do not provide estimates over the phone and have to revise the estimate upon arrival. Before beginning work on your home, we dispatch a qualified plumber to inspect your existing home plumbing system, verify the integrity of the walls and accessibility for the drains and offer a written, itemized estimate.
We have an extensive stock of them. We carry all of the company’s products that fit the popular urinal manufacturers such as American Standard, Sloan, Kohler, Duravit and others. We’re not looking for parts during the job, we are ready.
We do the whole gamut. BOS takes care of the entire job from urinal drain installation to supply connection, flush valve commissioning, wall patching, and final inspection. You don’t schedule for a plumber, tile man and dry wall man, Engaged as one accountable team.
We’re available when you need us. BOS has a 24-hour plumber response line and can be contacted anytime, on a 24-hour basis, for urgent plumbing repair needs in Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Hamilton and the surrounding GTA. We respond next week for a fixture that has been recently installed that fails or an existing fixture that has a sudden leak.
Actually, the price of plumbing urinal installation varies depending on the actual factors which are not manipulated by the prices. Knowing these factors allows you to make an informed decision, and know what to ask any plumbing company you call.
Wall Construction and Access: Building a wall urinal into a framed drywall partition is less expensive than into a masonry or concrete wall where the location for supply and drain access locations will necessitate core drilling. Older plumbing in houses, especially cast iron drain stacks, will need connections that vary from those provided by modern drain stacks made of ABS or PVC.
Installation: There is a difference in the installation for a standard floor mounted fixture and wall hung fixture. The scope features sensor-flush technology, which brings electrical co-ordination to the scope. A special compatibility of drain cartridges is required with waterless urinals. The fixture is a part of the overall expense and we make sure our clients are not over-specifying when selecting a model for their project.
Existing Plumbing Condition: Older GTA buildings, especially those built before 1980 in Hamilton, Mississauga, and downtown Toronto, often have concealed supply lines and branch drains that can cause unpleasant surprises such as galvanized piping and small branch drains, or poor venting. Inform immediately as we discover and we would not undertake anything outside the original quote until we have permission to do so.
Existing Connections or This is a New Rough-In: If your bathroom plumbing already has a urinal rough-in (supply stub, drain outlet and vent), it will cost less to install. When adding a new rough-in with no existing supply, tying in to the drain stack and venting then the scope increases. These two are achievable and both cost is a reflection of the actual labour and material.
BOS Plumbing and Drains is an entirely local plumbing company who has been serving the communities that we work in for more than 20 years. No, we’re not a call routing operation located far away, we’re a team based in the GTA that is familiar with local building construction, municipal plumbing standards, and the difference between a 1960’s Hamilton duplex and a new Oakville townhouse.
We are a urinal installation company that services: Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Hamilton, Milton, Niagara Region, Cambridge, Burlington, Toronto and the GTA.
Whether you need a plumber in Mississauga for a commercial retrofit, a plumber in Oakville Ontario for a residential basement job, or an emergency plumber in Oakville for an urgent fixture failure, our dispatch team is reachable 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
A good urinal installation is a “one-time job”. When installed carelessly, it’s a recurring plumbing repair expense which over time will outlast the original savings in the installation. At BOS Plumbing & Drains, the reputation we have established throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Brampton, Cambridge, Milton, & the GTA is in attaining perfection with every job done and supporting the work when it isn’t.
Give us a call to schedule a no pressure site assessment. We will walk your space and evaluate your existing plumbing system, answer all your questions and provide you with a straight-to-the-point estimate.
The best way is to have a professional inspection. The color of lead pipe is dull grey, and is soft enough to be scratched with a key, unlike copper (orange/brown) or galvanized steel (silver with visible threads). The highest risk category are homes built prior to 1986 in the GTA. Please call BOS, we will confirm.
Not always. If only the city-side pipe is replaced and the private property-side pipe is left in place, then lead can be brought into your water at the city/private property pipe connection, which is called galvanic leaching. The most permanent and safest solution is to replace the pipe from the street to the interior shutoff.
Typical water service line replacement services can be finished in one to two days. More expansive lots, longer service lines or projects that involve extensive excavation can take longer. We give you a realistic project timeline at your free assessment.
Yes. BOS Plumbing and Drains has a 24 hour plumber response line. Please contact us at any time if you have noticed a leaking lead pipe, a discolouration of the water or any other emergency plumbing repair situation. We are open 24 hours a day for the service of Oakville, Mississauga, Hamilton and the surrounding GTA.
Absolutely. Permit acquisition, inspection scheduling, and final sign-off are handled entirely by our team. You won’t need to navigate municipal offices or building departments, that’s our job.
